The Business-to-Business Scenario

You are the Business Desk manager for the Northwind Traders Company. You want to enable your employees to purchase supplies from your own catalogs, using your Commerce Server Web site. You also want your Business Desk managers to be able to update their catalogs, which are on your Commerce Server. The Business-to-Business tutorial shows you how to do the following:

  • Create a separate catalog for each product group within your company.
  • Publish your catalogs on your Web site.
  • Grant a Business Desk manager from each product group limited access to Business Desk modules and tasks, so that they can update their own catalogs only.

This tutorial contains four labs that use the SupplierAD Solution Site, included with Commerce Server. Before you start Lab 1: Adding a Shipping Method and Tax Rate, your system administrator must prepare the tutorial for you. For information and prerequisites concerning this tutorial, refer your system administrator to the Preparing the Tutorial topic.

After the tutorial has been prepared, ask your system administrator for the location of your Supplier Active Directory Solution Site and the user name and password you will use to log on to the Commerce Server computer. Then proceed to Lab 1: Adding a Shipping Method and Tax Rate.
