Installing the Business Desk Client

Before you install the Commerce Server Business Desk client, you must install the following software on the client computer:

  • Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 1 or later, or Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 or greater. You must install Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 or later to access the Business Desk application, even if the application and client are on the same computer.

  • Microsoft Office XP Web Components. In order for Business Desk users to use Analysis Services over HTTPS, your Commerce Server installation must use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. You cannot connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition with HTTP connectivity.

Microsoft Office XP Web Components include the pivot table services that are required to run the dynamic reports in Analysis. Installing Microsoft Office XP, or Microsoft Excel XP, Access XP, or Microsoft FrontPage XP automatically installs Microsoft Office XP Web Components.

  • For more information about enabling a Business Desk user to run dynamic reports over HTTPS, see Accessing the Analysis Server Over HTTPS.
