Adding a Global Resource Pointer to a Site

After you have used the Commerce Server 2000 Setup program to install a global resource, you can add a pointer to the resource to any site in your Commerce Server Administration database. To add a global resource pointer to a site, you unpack the global resource pointer from a Commerce Server Site Packager file.

For example, after you install Predictor and Direct Mailer, you unpack a site that includes the Predictor and Direct Mailer resources. When you unpack the site, you set the global resource pointers for the site to Predictor and Direct Mailer.

  • Before performing this procedure, you must create a package file, or use one of the Solution Site packages that contains the global resource pointer you want to add to the site. For instructions about creating a package, seeĀ Using Site Packager.

  • If you unpack the Direct Mailer resource after you unpack a Commerce Server Business Desk application and install a Business Desk client, you must restart Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 on the Web server hosting the Business Desk application in order for the addition of Direct Mailer to be detected. Business Desk clients must re-connect to the application. For instructions about restarting IIS, seeĀ Restarting IIS.
