Editing Category Hierarchies

You can edit an existing category hierarchy for a selected catalog. If you have two parent categories that are closely related, and one category could logically be subordinate to the other, you can edit the category assignment. For example, if you have parent categories, one named Classical and the other Composers, you can make Composers a child category of Classical.

To edit a category hierarchy

  1. In Catalogs, click Catalog Editor.

  2. In the Catalogs screen, select the catalog containing the category hierarchy you want to edit, and then click Open on the toolbar.

  3. In the Catalog - <Catalog Name> screen, in the Categories section, select the category whose hierarchy you want to edit, and then click Edit.

  4. In the Catalog Editor - <Catalog Name> (category) screen, in the Assigned Categories section, select the category you want to associate this subcategory with from the Categories list.

  5. To save the edited category and return to the Catalog - <Catalog Name> screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.

After you make your edits, you must refresh and publish your Web site in order for your edits to appear on your site. For information about refreshing and publishing your edits, see Refreshing and Publishing a Catalog.
