Step 1: Installing the CSF Headlines Sample

To install the CSF Headlines sample, perform the following procedure.

To install the CSF Headlines sample

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2000, and then click Commerce Site Packager.

  2. In the Commerce Server Site Packager screen, select Unpack from a package file [.pup], and then click Next.

  3. In the Unpack dialog box, click Browse.

  4. In the Open dialog box, navigate to <drive:>/Program Files/Microsoft Commerce Server/PuP Packages, select Blank.pup, and then click Open.

  5. When you are returned to the Unpack dialog box, select Custom Unpack, and then click Next.

  6. In the Unpack Method dialog box, click Create a new site, and then click Next.

  7. In the Site Name screen, type CSFHeadlines in the Site name box, and then click Next.

  8. In the Select Resources screen, accept the default setting, which unpacks all the resources in the Resources to unpack box, and then click Next.

  9. In the Global Resource Pointers screen, accept the default settings, and click Next.

  10. In the Database Connection Strings screen, accept the default settings, and click Next.

  11. In the Commerce Server Site Packager dialog box, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    SQL user name Type your SQL Server user name.
    SQL password Type your SQL Server user password.

  12. Click OK.

  13. In the Select Applications screen, accept the default settings, and then click Next.

  14. In the Select IIS Web Sites and Virtual Directories screen, in the IIS virtual directory box, which currently holds the value blanksite, type CSFHeadlines.

  15. In the Application box, select BlankBizDesk, and in the IIS virtual directory box that currently holds the value blankbizdesk, type CSFHeadlinesBizDesk, and then click OK.

  16. Accept the default settings for the following dialog boxes, and click Next until you reach the Unpackaging is complete! dialog box.

  17. To close the Commerce Server Site Packager screen, click Finish.

To Update the ASP scripts and the pipeline directory

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.

  2. Copy the files GLOBAL.ASA, DEFAULT.ASP, DUMPCONTENTLIST.ASP, and TESTHEADLINESLOADER.ASP from <drive:>\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server\SDK\Samples\Marketing\Headlines\Web to <drive:>\Inetpub\wwwroot\CSFHeadlines.

  3. In the Confirm File Replace dialog box, click Yes to All.

  4. Copy the pipeline directory and the files within it from <drive:>\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server\SDK\Samples\Marketing\Headlines\SQL\Web to <drive:>\Inetpub\wwwroot\CSFHeadlinesBizDesk.
