Commerce Web Server, Log Files Tab

Use this dialog box to configure the Web server log files to be imported by the Data Warehouse.

  • When the Web servers in this application are running IIS option in the Application Properties dialog box is selected, you can only use the New log file period or Log file mask property; you cannot use both properties.
  • If the Synchronize the log file name and location option****in the Application Properties dialog box is selected, the value in the Log file directory box in the Web Server Properties dialog box is overwritten with the value in IIS.

The following table shows the options and functions available on the Log Files tab in the Commerce Web Server dialog box.

Use this To do this
New Log Time Period Specify how long the IIS Web site writes to a log file before it creates a new file. This value is initially read from IIS.
Log file mask Specify a custom log file rotation, indicating how long the IIS Web site writes to a log file before it creates a new file. This box is optional.

Log file directory Type the log file path to which the IIS Web site writes events, for example, C:\Winnt\System32\LogFiles\Log1. This value is initially read from IIS. However, you may want to specify a different directory if you copy the Web log files from the Web server to a central location before you run the Web server log import DTS task.
Log file code page This box displays the code page used by the entire file. If needed, select a new code page from the drop-down list.

IIS 5.0 supports System code page. Future releases of IIS will support UTF-8.

URL encoding code page This box displays the code page used for all URLs. If needed, select a new code page from the drop-down list.
