Finding a Generic Profile

You use the Profile Editor module to search your Web site for a generic profile or a group of generic profiles. You can use the Find pane to narrow your search by using the properties of the profile definition and the values of the profile you are searching for. For example, you can search for a generic profile that contains the value "PO345," in the profile property "PO Number." The Filtered View list displayed below the Find pane contains all of the generic profiles that match your search criteria.

You must have access to the Profiles modules to make changes to site terms, profile definitions, and profiles. For information about Business Desk permissions, see About Business Desk Security.

  • When searching for generic profiles, it is important to restrict your search criteria to control the number of generic profiles matching your search parameters. If a large number of generic profiles match your search criteria, the results could cause a significant decrease in your Commerce Server Business Desk performance.
  1. In Profiles, click Profile Editor.

  2. In the Profiles screen, select the profile definition that contains the generic profile you want to find, and then click Open on the toolbar.

  3. In the <profile definition> screen, if the Find pane is not open, click Find on the toolbar.

  4. In the Find By drop-down box, do the following:

  6. Click Find Now.

The search is performed. If your search is successful, the generic profiles you searched for appear in the Filtered View list. If your search is not successful, the message "No items match this search" appears.
