Implementing a Sample Backup Strategy
In the following example, the backup strategy for the Commerce Server <site name>_commerce database includes a full backup twice a week, differential backups twice a day, and a backup of the transaction log file every 30 minutes. The destination of the backup is a separate physical drive. The backups will be scheduled to perform automatically.
To implement a sample backup strategy
- Identify the database to be backed up.
- Identify the backup device.
- Determine the frequency and types of backups to perform.
- Schedule the backups.
To implement the backup schedule
Step 1: Perform a full backup of the Commerce Server database.
Step 2: Schedule a full backup for each Tuesday and Friday at 2:00 A.M.
Step 3: Schedule a transaction log file backup every 30 minutes.
Step 4: Schedule differential backups for every day at noon and midnight.
