Adding a Term to a Site Term

You use the Site Terms Editor module to add terms (values) to your site terms.

You must have access to the Profiles modules to make changes to site terms, profile definitions, and profiles. For information about Business Desk permissions, see About Business Desk Security.

To add a term to a site term

  1. In Profiles, click Site Terms Editor.

  2. In the Site TermsEditor screen, expand the site term group that contains the site term to which you want to add the term(s), and then select the site term.

  3. In the Site TermsEditor screen, in the Terms section, do the following:

    Term Name Click New and then type a name for the new term. A term is a value of the site term. For example, you might type Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow as terms for the Favorite_Color site term. The name can contain a maximum of 128 alphanumeric characters and the underscore (_) symbol. The name cannot contain spaces.
    Display Name Type the name for the new term that will appear to users on the Web site. The display name can contain a maximum of 128 characters.
  4. To add the new term to the site term and display it in the term list, click Accept.

    • You can add as many terms for the new site term as you need. Click New to add another term.
  5. To apply the site term with the new terms, click Apply.

  6. To save the site term with the new terms and return to the Business Desk screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.

The site term is saved. You can now add the site term to a profile definition.

After you create your site terms, you can set up a profile definition to include the site terms. For example, you can create a Favorite_Color site term, and then add it to the User Object profile definition. When users answer the Favorite Color question on your Web site, they select their favorite color from a drop-down list containing the terms you typed in the Favorite_Color site term.
