Changing the Data Warehouse Password

If you change the system administrator password for your SQL Server computer, you must also change the password in the Commerce Server Data Warehouse and the connection strings for all resources.

When you change the Data Warehouse password, you must change it in two places:

  • The Data Warehouse global resource, which specifies the connection string to the SQL Server Data Warehouse database.
  • The Data Warehouse OLAP database, which has a connection to the SQL Server Data Warehouse database.

To change the Data Warehouse password

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, and then click Commerce Server Manager.
  2. In Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, right-click the Data Warehouse for which you want to change the password, and then click Properties.
  3. In the Data Warehouse Properties dialog box, click the SQL Server tab.
  4. On the SQL Server tab, in the Password box, type the new password, and then click OK.
  5. In Commerce Server Manager, expand Analysis Server, expand the name of the OLAP server, expand the OLAP database, and then expand Data Sources.
  6. Right-click the Data Warehouse data source (for example, COMMERCE_DataWarehouse), and then click Edit.
  7. In the Data Link Properties dialog box, type the new password, and then click OK.
