Step 1: Add a custom profile property
- In Profiles, click Profile Definition Designer.
- In the Profiles screen, select User Object, and then click on the toolbar.
- In the Profile: User Object screen, in the Properties list, select General Information, and then click Add.
- In the Add dialog box, select the Add a new property option, and then click OK.
- In the Attributes section, do the following:
Use this To do this Name Type ListName. Display name Type ListName. Description Type User List Name. Type Select the String property type from the drop-down list. - In the Advanced Attributes section, do the following:
Use this To do this Active Specify the new property as Active. Map to data Click the ellipsis […] button to open the Data Source Picker dialog box. In the Data Source Picker dialog box, under the User Object, select the Custom Property 1 (STRING) data member for the property.
Key type Leave this blank. Required Clear this option. Exported Clear this option. Defer cache load Clear this option. Multi-valued Clear this option. Searchable Clear this option. - To apply the new property and display it in the Properties list, click Apply.
- To save the property, click on the toolbar to save the profile.
The profile definition is saved with the new property. After you add a property to a profile definition, you must publish the changes on your Web site.
