Adding a Non-Commerce Application and Web Server

You can use Commerce Server Manager to add an application and a Web server that do not use Commerce Server components. The purpose of adding a non-Commerce application and Web server is so you can make the Web server log files available to the Data Warehouse for import.

To add a non-Commerce application to a site

  1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Commerce Sites, and then expand the site you want to administer.

  2. Click Applications, right-click Applications, and then click Add Non-Commerce Application.

  3. In the New Non-Commerce Application dialog box, on the General tab, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Web servers in this application are running IIS Select this check box if the servers in the non-Commerce application are running Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0. You cannot have both IIS and non-IIS servers in a non-Commerce application.
    Nonsecure host name Type the Domain Name System (DNS) domain name that non-secured links in the application use.

      Caution

    • If you are using a port number other than 80, you must append that number to the end of the server name (for example, www.microsoft.com:81). To view the port number you are using, see the TCP port box in the Web Servers tab.
    IIS application path or Application path Type the path to the application.
    Enable HTTPS Select this property if secured links are used in the application.
    Secure host name Type the DNS domain name that secured links in the application use.

      Caution

    • If you are using a port number other than 443, you must append that number to the end of the server name (for example, www.microsoft.com:441). To view the port number you are using, see the SSL port box in the Web Servers tab.
  4. In the Web Servers tab, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    IIS Web site Type the name of the IIS Web site (for example, Default Web Site).
    TCP port Type the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) port (typically 80). If you have a value other than 80 here, you must type that value in the Nonsecure host name box on the General tab (for example, www.microsoft.com:81).
    SSL port Type the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port (typically 443). If you have a value other than 443 here, you must type that value in the Secure host name box on the General tab (for example, www.microsoft.com:441).
    Local domain Type the name of the local domain (for example, microsoft.com).
  5. Click OK.

To add a non-Commerce Web server to an application

  1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Commerce Sites, and then expand the site you want to administer.

  2. Expand Applications, click the name of the non-Commerce application to which you want to add the Web server, right-click it, point to New, and then click Add Non-Commerce Web Server.

  3. In the Properties dialog box, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Server name Type the name of the computer that hosts the non-Commerce Web server.
    IP Address Type the Internet Protocol (IP) address for the non-Commerce Web server.
    Log file path Type the log file path to which the non-Commerce Web server writes events, for example, C:\Winnt\System32\LogFiles\Log1.
    Log file period Select the log file period from the drop-down list. The log file period indicates how long the non-Commerce Web server writes to a log file before creating a new one.
  4. Click OK.
