Automatically Adding a Web Server

You can create a new Web server by using Microsoft Application Center 2000 to deploy the Commerce Server files to the Web server, or by manually copying Commerce Server files to the Web server instead of using Commerce Server Site Packager. Commerce Server Solution Sites include code in global.asa that enables a Web server to be added to an application automatically.

When the Commerce Server application first starts on the new Web server (for example, a user connects to the Web server or gets load-balanced to it), and global.asa starts, the Web server is added automatically to the Administration database. The Web server reads from the Administration database the properties it needs for the site.

After it is added, the Web server is shown in the Commerce Server Manager so you can manage it.
