RRAS: To use a demand-dial interface on the RRAS server, 'LAN and demand-dial routing' must be enabled on the server

A demand-dial interface has been configured, but demand-dial routing is not enabled on the RRAS server.

If 'LAN and demand-dial routing' is disabled on the RRAS server, then demand-dial connections cannot be established.

Use 'Routing and Remote Access' in Server Manager to enable 'LAN and demand-dial routing' on the RRAS server.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

  1. Start Server Manager. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.

  2. In the navigation tree, expand Roles, and then expand Network Policy and Access Services.

  3. Right-click Routing and Remote Access, and then click Properties

  4. If you want to use IPv4-based demand-dial routing, then select IPv4 Router, and then select LAN and demand-dial-routing.

  5. If you want to use IPv6-based demand-dial routing, then select IPv6 Router, and then select LAN and demand-dial-routing.

  6. If you selected IPv6, and you have not yet done so, then select the IPv6 tab, and enter an IPv6 address prefix in the IPv6 prefix assignment box. This is mandatory when IPv6 services are enabled on the RRAS server, even if you do not use IPv6 remote access.

  7. Click OK to save your changes. If you are prompted to restart the router, click Yes.
