This topic explains how to obtain the management pack for FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint and how to import it into SCOM 2007.

The main distribution channel for the Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint management pack is the System Center Management Pack Catalog Web site. Direct link to the FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint management pack: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=182110.

The default installation folder for management pack files is <Program Files [(x86)]>\System Center Management Packs.

In the SCOM Operations Console, right-click the Management Packs entry in the Administration view and select Import Management Packs .

In SCOM 2007 R2, this import dialog supports automatic download and installation of management packs from the Management Pack Catalog using the Add > Add from catalog option.

You should also import the following management packs to make sure that all aspects of the FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint installation are monitored:

  • Windows Server 2008 (Core OS)

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008

  • Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010

  • Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010

Before you start to work with SCOM 2007, make sure that object discovery has finished. Object discovery can take anywhere from ten minutes to several hours. Use Refresh (F5).

If there is no discovery after you load a new management pack, restart the agent service on the respective node.
The name of the service is HealthService. In SCOM 2007 SP1, it is displayed as OpsMgr Health Service; in SCOM 2007 R2, it is displayed as System Center Management.
