Ledger allocation rule (form) [AX 2012]

Click General ledger > Setup > Posting > Ledger allocation rule.

Use this form to set up an allocation rule that you can use to determine the result of an allocation.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Enter an allocation rule that includes effective and expiration dates.

General

Enter additional information about the allocation rule.

Offset

Enter offset account and financial dimension information for the allocation rule.

Source

Open the Ledger allocation rule source form, where you can define the source information for the allocation rule.

Destination

Open the Ledger allocation rule destination form, where you can define the destination information for the allocation rule.

Field

Description

Rule

The identifier of the allocation rule.

Description

The description of the allocation rule.

Effective date

Select the effective date for the rule. The effective date must be earlier or equal to the expiration date.

If no dates are entered, the rule is always in effect.

Expiration date

Select the expiration date for the rule.

Active

Select this check box if the allocation rule is active and is available for allocation processing. If you clear the check box, the rule is not available to allocate new transaction amounts.

Date last run

The date that the allocation rule was last processed and distributions were successfully created.

Intercompany rule

Select this check box if the allocation rule involves processing between multiple legal entities.

Allocation method

Select the allocation method calculation to use.

Data source

Select the source of the amount to allocate.

Fixed value

If you selected Fixed value in the Data source field, enter a value.

Mathematical operation

If you selected Ledger in the Data source field, select a mathematical operation to apply to the source value.

Amount

If you selected Multiply or Divide in the Mathematical operation field, enter the amount to multiply or divide the source value by.

Date interval code

If you selected Ledger in the Data source field, you can select a date interval to determine the account period that is used for the allocation rule source.

Journal name

Select an allocation journal.

Description

The allocation journal description.

Keep account from

If you selected Distribute the source document amount equally in the Allocation method field, you can select to use the source account or a user-specified account.

Keep dimension from

If you selected Distribute the source document amount equally in the Allocation method field, you can select to use either the source financial dimension or a user-specified financial dimension.

Offset account from

Select which offset account to use:

  • Source – Use the offset account that is defined in the source.

  • User specified – Use the offset account that you specify in the Offset account field.

Offset account

If you selected User specified in the Offset account from field, select the offset account.

Offset dimension from

Select which offset financial dimensions to use:

  • Source – Use the offset financial dimensions that are defined in the source.

  • User specified – Use the offset financial dimensions that you select in the Financial dimensions field group.

Financial dimensions

The financial dimensions that were set up in the Financial dimensions form.
