Changing the security and pre-authentication setting

Applies to: Groove Server 2010

Topic Last Modified: 2010-01-18

This procedure describes how to change the policy that requires Groove Server Manager pre-authentication of SharePoint Workspace clients before they register with Groove Server Relay. This setting is enabled by default to improve the overall security of your Relay server provisioning system. When a managed SharePoint Workspace client contacts an assigned Relay server for the first time, the client has already been pre-authenticated by the Groove Server Manager system so that it may complete the first-time authentication process. You can require assigned Relay servers to register only those clients that have been pre-authenticated by the Manager server (through domain membership).by setting a policy on the Relay server. This prevents unauthorized SharePoint Workspace clients from being assigned to the managed Relay server.

This procedure requires that Groove Server is installed as described in Deployment for Groove Server 2010.

To change the security and pre-authentication setting for Groove Server Relay

  1. Make sure to register the Groove Server Relay installation with Groove Server Manager, as described in Registering Relay servers with Groove Server Manager
