Install Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint)

Before you install FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint, you must install Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
For information about how to install SharePoint Server 2010 and SQL Server 2008, refer to Deployment for SharePoint Server 2010.
Also, make sure that the system meets the requirements in Review hardware and software requirements (FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint).
SharePoint Server 2010
Do not install SharePoint Server 2010 and FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint on the same server.
Both standalone and server farm installations of SharePoint Server 2010 can be used with FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint.
To enable FAST Search functionality on SharePoint Server 2010, you must have an Enterprise License on SharePoint Server 2010.
To enable document preview in search results in FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint, you must install and configure Microsoft Office Web Apps on the SharePoint Server 2010 farms that you index content from.
Note
Document preview is only available for Word and PowerPoint documents that are stored in SharePoint Server 2010 farms.
Refer to Microsoft Office Web Apps Resource Center for information about how to install and configure Office Web Apps.
The document previews may take some time to render the first time that you present them in search results.
SQL Server 2008
The FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint deployment must have access to a SQL Server host that is used to store configuration information. FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint will not store any data related to the indexed content in the database. It is therefore recommended that you use a SQL Server database server that is already available in the parent SharePoint Server 2010 farm for this purpose.
