There has been a change in SQL Server 2005 SP3 that can impact the installation of Office Communications Server 2007. This does not impact Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
SQL Server 2005 SP3 has an update that changes a return code that the Office Communications Server 2007 install was not designed to handle. If you are installing a new Office Communications Server 2007 pool and are using SQL Server 2005 SP3, here are two possible workarounds to complete the installation:
Install the Enterprise Edition pool from a server that has the SQL Server 2005 SP2 client tool on a different server.
Uninstall SQL Server 2005 SP3 backward compatibility, and then install Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - February 2007 available at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=94398on the SQL Server2005 SP3 Enterprise Edition server.
