FSRM: Classification rules should have schedules

This topic is intended to address a specific issue identified by a Best Practices Analyzer scan. Issue

One or more classification rules do not have schedules.

Impact

Classification rules will only be applied to files when an application or a file management task queries the classification properties on a file. This may severely slow down the performance of the application or file management task.

Resolution

Use File Server Resource Manager to set up a schedule for automatic classification that runs before applications or file management tasks need the information.

To set up a schedule for automatic classification by using File Server Resource Manager

1. Open File Server Resource Manager.

2. In the Actions pane, click Configure Options.

3. In File Server Resource Manager Options, click the Automatic Classification tab, and then click Create.

4. In the Schedule dialog box, click New.

   This displays a default schedule that is set for 9:00 A.M. daily, but you can modify the default schedule.

5. Make selections as needed, and then click OK to save the schedule.
