DFS-N: The DFS Namespace service should be started

The DFS Namespace service is not started.

The namespace server is unavailable to clients and no further diagnostic information can be gathered. If the server is a domain controller, domain referral and domain controller referral requests to the domain controller will fail.

  1. In Server Manager, click File Services in the console tree.

  2. In the System Services box, click DFS Namespace, and then click Start.

  1. To open an elevated Command Prompt window, click Start, point to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

  2. Type Sc start dfs.
