Configure IP Multicasting

You can configure your site-to-site connection to support IP multicast applications.

Configure demand-dial routers for IP multicasting

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

  1. For both the calling and the answering router, open the Routing and Remote Access MMC snap-in.

  2. In the console tree, expand IPv4, right-click IGMP, click New Interface, select the interface you want to enable, and then click OK. This is typically the Internet interface.

  3. Under IPv4, select IGMP, and in the details pane, right-click the interface you enabled, and then click Properties.

  4. Select Enable IGMP (the default), and then do one of the following:

    • If this is the demand-dial interface, select IGMP proxy.

    • If this is an intranet interface, select IGMP router.

  5. Typically, for IGMP protocol version, you can accept Version 3 (the default).

  6. If you selected IGMP router and you need to modify the default IGMP router settings, select the Router tab.
