Deploy a Certificate Infrastructure

Updated: April 30, 2010

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

You must have a certificate infrastructure in place in your network if you plan to use:

  • EAP-TLS as your authentication protocol for user-level authentication on a dial-up, PPTP VPN, or L2TP/IPsec VPN connection
  • L2TP/IPsec with computer certificates for your VPN connection

For information about creating a certificate infrastructure, see Appendix A: Computer Certificates for VPN Connections in the Routing and Remote Access Services Design Guide.
