Step 4: Monitor Software Update Progress

Applies To: Windows HPC Server 2008

You can monitor the progress of ongoing cluster operations, such as maintenance tasks, in the operations log. You can view the operations log for the entire cluster, filter it to view only specific types of entries, or view the entries only for specific nodes.

To view the operations log for the cluster

  1. In Node Management, in the Navigation Pane, click Operations. The view pane displays a list of all cluster operations from the past seven days.

  2. Click an operation that you want to monitor. A detailed log of the selected operation appears in the Detail Pane. If the operation is in progress, the log is updated in real time.

To filter the operations log

  1. In Node Management, in the Navigation Pane, click Operations.

  2. To filter the operations log, do one of the following:

    • Use the filter fields on the top of the list view to filter by Definition, Node, and Last updated.

For example, to see the operations related to node maintenance, in Definition, click Maintain Nodes, and then click the filter icon to get the results.

    • In the Navigation Pane, under Operations, click a filter to view the operations by state.

To view the operations log for specific nodes

  1. In Node Management, in the Navigation Pane, click Nodes.

  2. In the view pane, select one or more nodes.

  3. In the Actions pane, click Operations for the node to pivot to a view of the operations log that is filtered by the selected nodes.
