The HPC Job Scheduler Service runs on the head node and queues incoming jobs and tasks, allocates resources, dispatches tasks to nodes, and monitors the status of jobs, tasks, and nodes. You can adjust how resources are allocated to jobs, and how jobs are handled, by configuring the HPC Job Scheduler Service.
To configure the HPC Job Scheduler Service
From the Options menu, click Job Scheduler Configuration.
Use the Job Scheduler Configuration dialog box to set the scheduling options. For detailed information about the options, see:
When you are done, click Apply to save your changes, or click OK to save and exit the dialog box.
You can also use either the Cluscfg command-line command or the Set-HpcClusterProperty HPC PowerShell cmdlet to configure the HPC Job Scheduler Service. For more information, see Online Resources for Microsoft HPC Pack.
For information about using HPC Cluster Manager, see Overview of HPC Cluster Manager.
Starting with HPC Pack 2008 R2 with Service Pack 2 (SP2), you can configure the HPC Job Scheduler Service to allocate resources based on Resource Pools. For more information, see Enabling and Configuring Resource Pools.
