Create an Advisor Account and Download the On-Premise Software

Use the following steps to create an account and download the on-premise software for System Center Advisor. At first logon you can create your account and download the software. You can also go back and download the software at any point during your usage of Advisor.

To create an Advisor account and download the on-premise software

  1. On the Advisor home page, click Create Account.

  2. Select the type of account you are going to use for Advisor. You can choose either Microsoft account or Organizational account, which is based on an organizational ID from Windows Azure Active Directory.

  3. If you chose Microsoft account, do one of the following:

    • If you already have a Microsoft account (previously called a “Windows Live ID”), type it and your password, and then click Sign in.

    • If you do not have a Microsoft account, click Sign Up on the left side of the page. Complete the steps to create a Microsoft account, and then return to the Advisor web site and use that ID to sign in.

  4. If you chose Organizational account, do the following:

    1. Review the information about organizational IDs, and then click Next.

    2. Sign into your organizational account using the administrative identity for your Windows Azure Active Directory domain.

  5. If you are using a Microsoft account, in the Customer Account Creation wizard, enter your first name, last name, and the name of your company, and then click Create.

  6. Review and accept the subscription agreement, and then click Next.

  7. The next step is to download the on-premise software and the registration certificate. If this is the first time you have used Advisor, the Advisor Deployment Guide is displayed. Click Begin deployment.

  8. Follow the instructions in the Deployment Guide to download the Setup wizard and registration certificate. For information on installing the gateway and agents, see Install the Gateway and Agents from the Setup Wizard.

To download the on-premise software

  1. In the Advisor portal, on the Servers page, click View on-premise setup guide.

  2. Follow the instructions in the Deployment Guide to download the Setup wizard and registration certificate. For information on installing the gateway and agents, see Install the Gateway and Agents from the Setup Wizard.

The next step is to install at least one gateway and one or more agents on the servers you want to analyze.
