The database could not be started because the distinguished name (DN) %2 of mailbox database "%3" does not match the DN of directory %1.%n%n The database may have been restored to a computer that is in an organization or site different from the original database.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the Exchange mailbox database has a domain or organization name that is different from the name that is stored in Active Directory directory service. Typically, this situation occurs in server recovery situations.

The restored database cannot be part of a different Exchange organization.

User Action

To resolve this problem, you have to reinstall the server that is running Exchange by using the organization name that is displayed in the event ID 1088 error message.
