Message Text

An e-mail address of type '%1' couldn't be generated. Success was indicated, but no e-mail address was returned.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that one of the e-mail address policy proxy dynamic-link library (.dll) files failed to generate a proxy e-mail address.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • Make sure that you have the appropriate .dll files for the type of e-mail address that you are trying to generate. Exchange 2010 does not provide unique dialog boxes or property pages for X.400, GroupWise, or Lotus Notes e-mail address types. If you do not provide the appropriate .dll files, you will not be able to create a customized e-mail address policy. For more information, see Create an E-Mail Address Policy.

  • Review the Application log for related events. For example, events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the root cause of this error.

These tools can help make sure that your configuration aligns with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues and improve mail flow.
