Message Text

An error occurred while loading the configuration for the Attachment Filter agent, the configuration may be corrupt, or Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) may be unreachable. The Attachment Filter agent will use the last known "good" configuration.

Explanation

This Warning event occurs indicates that configuration information for the Attachment Filtering Agent is invalid or is corrupted. The configuration information for the Attachment Filtering Agent is stored in Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS).

User Action

To resolve this problem, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the Application log and System log on your Exchange 2010 servers for related events. For example, events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the root cause of this error.

  • Review Operations Manager for detailed information about the cause of this problem. For more information, see the "Introduction" section in this article.

  • Make sure that the server that is running Exchange that logged this event can communicate with one or more Active Directory servers that are available in the organization.

  • Increase the diagnostic logging level on the Rules counter of the MSExchange Messaging Policies performance object. You can increase logging by running the following Exchange Management Shell command:

    Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchange Messaging Policies\Rules" -Level High

  • Review other related Error events and Warning events in the Application log. These related events may help you find the cause of this problem.

    Important   After you finish troubleshooting this issue, return logging to the default level by running the following command:

    Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchange Messaging Policies\Rules" -Level Lowest

  • Resolve your issue by using self-support options, assisted support options, and other resources. You can access these resources from the Exchange Server Solutions Center. From this page, click Self-Support Options in the navigation pane to use self-help options. Self-help options include searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base, posting a question at the Exchange Server forums, and other methods. Alternatively, in the navigation pane, you can click Assisted Support Options to contact a Microsoft support professional. Because your organization may have a specific procedure for directly contacting Microsoft Product Support Services, be sure to review your organization's guidelines first.
