Step 9: Validate Installation of Head Node Services in the Context of the Failover Cluster

You can use Failover Cluster Manager to perform a basic test to confirm that the services and shared folders that are used by HPC Pack can fail over successfully to another server in the failover cluster. Some user interface details may differ slightly in your deployment, depending on your version of Windows Server.
To test the failover of the services used by Microsoft HPC Pack
In Failover Cluster Manager, select or specify the failover cluster that you want.
Click the clustered file server that you configured for your HPC cluster.
Right-click the clustered file server, click Move, click Selected Node, and click the available choice of node. You can observe the status changes in the center pane of Failover Cluster Manager as the clustered file server resources move.
Optionally move the head node services to another node or back to the original server.
You can use HPC Cluster Manager to view the head node that you configured and confirm that it appears as expected.
To open HPC Cluster Manager and view a head node
Start HPC Cluster Manager.
If the Select Head Node pop-up window appears, click Another computer, and then select the name that you defined previously for the head node within the failover cluster.
Important
After you configure a head node in the context of a failover cluster, do not refer to that head node by using the name of a physical server in the failover cluster. Use the name of the clustered file server that appears in Failover Cluster Manager.
