Creating and Managing Virtual Disks for iSCSI Targets

With Microsoft iSCSI Software Target, an iSCSI target uses virtual disks to provide storage on iSCSI subsystems. iSCSI virtual disks appear to iSCSI initiators as locally-attached hard disks. Each disk can be partitioned, formatted, and used the same as a hard disk.
You can create a new iSCSI virtual disk or import a previously created virtual disk for assignment to an iSCSI target. After you create an iSCSI virtual disk, you can extend the virtual disk, control iSCSI target access to the virtual disk, and delete the virtual disk.

If you are implementing failover clustering with Microsoft iSCSI Software Target, you can create and manage iSCSI resource groups using Failover Cluster Management, and then use Microsoft iSCSI Software Target to create and manage targets and virtual disks.
