Maximum Memory or File Size Exceeded

Looking for help with Power Pivot in Excel 2013? Go to Power Pivot Help on Office.com.

This dialog box displays when the maximum memory or file size limit for a PowerPivot for Excel workbook is exceeded. The maximum size for a PowerPivot for Excel workbook file is 2 GB, and the maximum memory that can be consumed by a workbook is 4 GB. If you exceed either of these limits, the workbook cannot be saved.

If this occurs, you must reduce the number of tables, rows, or columns that are linked, imported, or copied to the PowerPivot window before you can save the workbook. For more information, see the following topics:

Filtering the data in the PowerPivot window (as described in Filter Data in a Table) does not affect the file size or memory consumption; it only affects how data is displayed.
