Moving a Chat Room or Category

You can move a chat room or a category within the category tree. Before you do this, consider the following implications:

  • Settings and access control lists (ACLs) that the moved item inherits from its parent category may change. This is because the moved category or chat room now inherits settings from a different parent category.

  • If the category or chat room inherits its scope from its current parent, and it is moved to a parent category that has a more limited scope, the scope and membership of the moved category or chat room are immediately reduced to conform to the new parent’s scope.

To move a chat room or category

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Lync Server 2010, and then click Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Group Chat Admin Tool.

  2. In the Chat Rooms list, drag the chat room or category from its current location, and then drop it into the new parent category.
