Welcome

Updated: February 16, 2012

Applies To: Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0, Windows Server 2012

When you plan your federation server deployment, you can configure a new stand-alone instance of Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0 or you can add a server to an existing AD FS 2.0 server farm. Unless you already configured at least one federation server instance previously as part of a server farm deployment, select the Create a new Federation Service option. Server farms are recommended where support for increased fault tolerance, load-balancing, or scalability are important considerations.
