How Health Rolls Up

The Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Management Pack uses a layered structure to calculate health. The health of one layer is dependent on the health of the lower layer components. The top-level component is the Cluster object.

The second level in the model consists of the head node, compute nodes, Windows Communication (WCF) broker nodes, workstation nodes, and the cluster network. The health of each of these components directly affects the health of the cluster. Lower levels in the model consist of services, databases, and operating systems that run on the nodes.

The following diagram shows how the health states of components roll up in this management pack.
