  3. On the Name and Description page, enter the following information, and then click Next:

    • Name: Enter the name of the configuration item.
    • (Optional) Description: Enter the description of the configuration item.
  4. On the Select Configuration Item Type page, select the configuration item type. The configuration item type varies by the type of the device. In this example, select Registry, and then click Next.

Select to associate the registry key with a 32-bit key on a 32-bit operating system and a 64-bit key on a 64-bit operating system. If the check box is not selected, the registry key is associated with a 32-bit key regardless of the operating system.

      Note

This functionality is based on Windows 32-bit On Windows 64-bit (WoW64). WoW64 is an emulation layer that enables 32-bit Windows-based applications to run seamlessly on 64-bit versions of Windows. For more information about WoW64, see Best Practices for WOW64 on Microsoft.com.

  6. On the Summary page, review the summary of the configuration item that you have created, and then click Next.

  7. On the Progress page, check for any messages, and then click Next.

  8. On the Confirmation page, confirm that the New Configuration Item Wizard completed successfully, and then click Close.
