Create activity relation upgrade (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Preprocessing upgrade checklist > Prepare application data for preprocessing. Click Prepare kanbans for migration or Prepare LOS schedules for migration. Click Next version base data > Production flows, and then click Activities. On the Predecessors tab, click Add predecessor. Alternatively, on the Successors tab, click Add successor.

Use this form to relate two production flow activities and to establish a sequence constraint between them. The constraint defines an activity as either a predecessor activity or a successor activity. The sequence of activities describes the flow of material and products through the production flow version. A production flow version is incomplete and cannot be activated until all activities are configured to have activity relations. However, you can modify activity relations for production flow versions that are not activated.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Fields

Field

Description

Activity

From the drop down list, select the activity to relate to the selected production flow activity in the Production flow activities form.

Activity name

The name of the activity that is selected.

Production flow

The name of the production flow that the activity is assigned to.

Version

The identification of the production flow version that the activity is assigned to.

Constraint

Select the check box to set a minimum value to the end-start constraint between the two activities. When you select this check box, the Constraint value fields become available.

Constraint value

Enter the minimum constraint time and the corresponding time unit of measure. This value can be positive or negative. The default value is zero, but you can change it. This value defines the earliest time that a successor activity can begin when the previous activity ends. This value is used to determine the lead time of kanban flows that span over multiple activities. The lead time is calculated as follows:

minimum average lead time (kanban flow) = sum of activity times + sum of constraint times (activity relations)

Cycle time ratio

Enter a value to describe the ratio between the cycle times of the related activities. The cycle time ratio defines how many cycles of a predecessor activity are required to supply the material or semi-finished products that are needed for one cycle of the successor activity. The ratio is used to calculate the average cycle times for all activities of the production flow. The ratio is also used to calculate the Required takt time of a feeder activity that is related to a downstream successor activity of a different production flow. You can include a scrap factor in the ratio.

Example

A cycle time ratio with the value 1 means: the activity cycle time is equal to the Average takt time time of the production flow version. This is the default value.

A cycle time ratio with the value 2 means: the activity has to feed two activities per cycle time. Item A is produced in work cell A. Item A consumes two units of item B which is produced in the upstream work cell B. The cycle time ratio is 2.
