Map all items 1:1 (form) [AX 2012]

Updated: February 23, 2011

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Prepare application data for preprocessing > Product upgrade > Product mapping > Map all items 1:1.

Use this form to map each item to a unique product. When an item is mapped, the item number is replicated in the new product number. The name and search name of the product are identical to the name and search name of the item.

NoteNote

On the General tab of this form, you can define a numbering convention. This numbering convention is applied if you map items that have identical item numbers but come from different companies. The item numbers that currently exist are replaced with numbers that are based on the numbering convention.

Product upgrade (preprocessing)

For an example that shows how a numbering convention is applied, see the section about the mapping process in Product upgrade (preprocessing).

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tab

Description

General

Define the numbering convention that is applied if you map items that have identical numbers but come from different companies.

TipTip

The numbering convention is defined by the two fields on this tab, Product number prefix and Initial number.

Batch

Set up a batch job to map items to products. We recommend that you use a batch job to map items.

Field

Description

Product number prefix

The prefix that is part of a numbering convention for new product numbers.

NoteNote

A product number must be different from the existing item number only if you map items that have identical numbers but come from different companies.

Initial number

The first number in the numbering convention that you define for products.

NoteNote

The sequence of the product numbers is based on the company's priority. For more information, see Company priority setup.
