Advanced rule structures (form) [AX 2012]

Click General ledger > Setup > Chart of accounts > Advanced rule structures.

Use this form to create account rule structures that you can link to account rules.

The information that is displayed in this form depends on the segments and nodes that you add.

When you work with segment rows in this form, you can click the Action menu icon to set active dates, and to copy, paste, delete, or move segments for the selected row. This control is available only after you click Edit for the selected account structure.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.




Create an advanced rule structure.


Select the level of advanced rule structure information to delete, and then click Delete.

  • Advanced rule structure – Delete the selected advanced rule structure.

  • Selection – Delete the selected information in the advanced rule structure, such as a segment, or segment criteria.

The options that are displayed depend on the information that is selected when you click the Delete.


Change the status of the selected advanced rule structure to Draft.


Change the selected account rule structure from draft status to active status.


Restore the selected account rule structure to the original settings when the account rule structure was activated.


Select the rule structure to duplicate and then click Duplicate.

Open the Which values are allowed for the %1 field form, where you can select to allow all values, or create an expression to specify the values that are allowed.

Add %1 node

Click to select the values that will be allowed for the financial dimension. Click Add filter to additionally restrict the values.

This control is available only when the account structure is in Draft mode.

Add segment

Click to select a financial dimension to add to the first segment of the advanced rule structure, or double-click <New financial dimension> to open the Create financial dimension form and create a dimension.

The description of the account rule structure.


For each segment, select the values are allowed for the selected advanced rule structure. You can select all values or specify which values are allowed.

To specify which values are allowed, click the Filter icon button to open the Which values are allowed for the %1 field form, and then select and enter the specific criteria.

Select the Allow blanks check box to allow blank values for the current segment.
