Click Production control > Setup > Routes > Cost categories. Click Price.

Use this form to enter and activate a cost record for a cost category for a specified costing version, from date, and site. Activating a cost record will change its status from pending to current active and its from-date to the activation date. Different cost records for a cost category may reflect a different costing version, site, status, or from date. The current active cost record for a cost category applies to routing operations for estimating production order costs and for valuing reported time against a production order.

The form can be opened from the Costing versions form or the Cost categories form. To open it from the Costing versions form, click Price, and then Cost category price. You can view and maintain all cost records in the costing version. Click the Activate button from the Costing versions form to activate multiple cost records for cost categories.

Examples

A manufacturer used two types of labor skill sets with different labor rates. The manufacturer defined a cost group labeled labor and assigned it to two cost categories that were defined for the two types of labor skills. Each of these cost categories had a different hourly cost that represented the average hourly pay rate. The hourly costs were defined as two cost records in the Price form, and the status for each record was changed to active. Because hourly costs were changing at year end, two additional cost records were defined. This included their hourly costs, a from date of January 1, and a pending status. A second site was also being implemented on February 1. Therefore, two more cost records were defined for the new site. These records included hourly costs, a from date of February 1 and a pending status. The status of selected cost records was changed to active on January 1 and also on February 1.
