Click Organization administration > Setup > Sites Services > Configuration checklist. Then click Create new solution.

Use this wizard to help you create a Sites Services solution. There are seven pages in the wizard that guide you through the process of creating a new solution web site.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Description

Specify general information

Specify the name of the solution, and enter a description.

Create a page template

Specify the name of the template, and enter a description.

Choose a layout for the page template from the following choices:

  • Narrow layout with one column

  • Narrow layout with two columns

  • Wide layout with one column

  • Wide layout with two columns

  • Wide layout with two equal columns

Specify a subsite location

Specify a subsite location for the new solution. The subsite location includes your company web address and the subsite name. You can add more subsites later.

The subsite that you specify is appended to your Sites Services web address. For example, "http://[OrganizationName].sites.dynamicssite.com/[SubsiteName]".

Select documents

Select the primary document and any related documents that will be used by the new template. You can also specify whether to publish and collect information online for the primary document. For example, the procurement department can publish a request for quotations and additional information from related documents.

Select the records to publish online

Select the records that you want to publish online.

All records that are included with the primary document can be published online. The record filters can also be modified to only publish a subset of the available records. Records can be published at any time by updating the document filters or by synchronizing the solution manually.

Specify availability

Specify the availability of the new solution. You can make the solution available in two locations: in the default module and in an additional module of your choice. You can also make the solution available in the development environment.

Activate and synchronize the solution

Review the summary in this page, and then activate and synchronize the solution.

If this page reports any errors in the solution, go back to previous pages to correct the errors.

Description

Add

Add a related document to the page template. Information from related documents can be published online, but not collected from visitors to the site.

Remove

Remove the selected related document from the page template.

Select records

Open the form for the primary document, in which you can add or remove records to publish.

Field

Description

Name

The name of the solution as it will appear in the Available solutions form.

Description

A description of the solution, including its purpose and use.

Name

The name of the page template.

Description

A description of the page template, including its layout and what information it will include.

Layout:

Choose a layout for the page template. A preview and description of the selected layout appear below this field.

Subsite name:

Specify a web address (URL) for the solution web site. The name that you specify is appended to your Sites Services web address. For example, "http://[OrganizationName].sites.dynamicssite.com/[SubsiteName]".

Primary document

Select the primary document in Microsoft Dynamics AX whose information you want to add to the page template.

Publish document information online

Publish information from the document on the solution web site.

Collect document information online

Collect the information that you want from visitors to the solution web site and download it to the document in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

System name

The name of the document in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Document name

The name of the document.

Description

The description of the document.

Publish all available records

Publish all available records from the primary document to the solution web site. When you select this option, the number of records to publish is displayed.

Publish only selected records

Publish selected records from the primary document to the solution web site. When you select this option, the Select records button is displayed.

Do not publish any records at this time

Select this option if you want to create the page template but do not want to publish any records at this time. You can choose to publish records later.

Default module: 

Displays the name of the module where the solution is available by default.

Additional module:

Select a module where you want the solution to be available, in addition to the default module.

Available in the development environment

Select this check box if you want the solution to be available in the development environment; for example, for further customization.
