Deploying FEP 2010 Update Rollup 1 to Client Computers

This topic provides step-by-step instructions for deploying Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP) 2010 to client computers. You can deploy the update in the following ways:

  • By distributing the client installation packages using System Center Configuration Manager. For instructions, see To deploy Update Rollup 1 for FEP 2010 to managed client computers.

    Important

    If you kept your previous Configuration Manager FEP – Deployment package before installing Update Rollup 1 for Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 Server, you must create new advertisements to deploy the update to client computers. For more information about creating new advertisements, see Deploying by Using Configuration Manager Packages.

  • By manually running the installation wizard on the client computer. For instructions, see Deploying Manually and Deploying the Client Software by Using the Command Prompt.

Prerequisites

Before you deploy this update, you must install Update Rollup 1 for Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 Server. For more information, see Installing FEP 2010 Update Rollup 1 on a Server.

To deploy Update Rollup 1 for FEP 2010 to managed client computers

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, expand System Center Configuration Manager, expand Site Database, expand Computer Management, expand Software Distribution, and then click Advertisements.

  2. For each FEP installation advertisement you want to run again:

    1. Right-click the advertisement, click Properties, and then on the Schedule tab, in the Program rerun behavior box, select Always run program.

    2. Right-click the advertisement, and then click Re-run Advertisement.
