Internal organizations (list page) [AX 2012]

Click Organization administration > Common > Organizations > Internal organizations.

Use this list page to create, modify, and view internal organizations. Internal organizations include operating units, legal entities, and teams.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.



Internal organization

Create a new internal organization. Select the type of organization to create, and then click OK to open the details form for the organization type, where you can enter information about the new organization.


Open the details form for the organization type, where you can modify the information about the selected organization.

Organization hierarchy

Open the View hierarchy form to view the selected organization in a hierarchy. If the organization belongs to multiple hierarchies, the Select organization hierarchy form opens, where you can select the hierarchy to view.



Organization type

The type of organization. In Microsoft Dynamics AX, you can define the following types of organizations: legal entities, operating units, and teams.

Search name

An alternate name that can be used to search for this organization by using Enterprise Search.

Operating unit types

The type of operating unit, if the selected organization is an operating unit. If the selected organization is a legal entity, this field is blank.

In Microsoft Dynamics AX, operating unit types include cost center, business unit, value stream, and department.


The company account ID that is associated with a legal entity. If the selected organization is an operating unit, this field is blank.
