Kanban (form)

Click Production control > Setup > Lean manufacturing > Kanban rules. On the Kanbans FastTab, click Details.

Use this form to view the following information about a kanban:

  • The product and order quantities that are replenished

  • The kanban card and source requirement that the kanban references

  • The job that is created to replenish the kanban

  • Event kanbans that the job generates

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Button

Description

Duplicate kanban

Open a form, to create additional kanbans that are based on the current kanban rule.

  • If the replenishment strategy of the current rule is Fixed, the Create fixed quantity kanbans form is opened. In this form, you can only create kanbans for a single use.

  • If the replenishment strategy of the current rule is Scheduled, the Create scheduled kanbans form is opened.

Create event kanbans

Checks for rules for event kanbans that can supply the material that this kanban requires. If a matching kanban rule is found, and no kanbans are created yet, new event kanbans are generated. The new event kanbans are displayed on the Pegging FastTab.

Empty kanban

Set the status of the material handling unit that references the kanban to Empty. You set the status of the handling unit to empty when the output that the kanban supplies is consumed. When the handling unit is empty, circulating cards are unassigned and reused.

Reverse empty handling unit

Open the Kanban %1 – reverse status of handling unit to Received form, where you can change the status of the handling unit that is assigned to the kanban. You can reverse the status of the handling unit from Emptied to Received. This action is available only when the handling unit of the selected kanban is empty. Note

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Cancel kanban

Reset the status of the kanban to Created. You can reset the status of the kanban to Created only if the current status is In process or Received, and if the kanban has not yet been financially updated. When you cancel a kanban, all inventory transactions that it references are reversed. If inventory transactions cannot be reversed because of insufficient inventory, an Infolog is displayed.

Prioritize

Set the priority of the kanban and any event kanban that it references. When you click this button, the Priority check box on the Details tab is selected.

BOM version

Open the Assign alternative BOM version list, where you can assign a different version of the bill of material (BOM) to the kanban. You can assign an alternative BOM version only if the status of the handling unit for the kanban is Not assigned. When you assign an alternative BOM version, the previous picking list is deleted, and a new picking list is generated based on the BOM version that you selected.

Use alternative kanban rule

Open the Use alternative kanban rule- %1 kanbans form, where you can select an alternative kanban rule for the kanban.

Kanban rule

Open the Kanban rules form, where you can view detailed information about the rule that the kanban references.

Pegging tree overview

Open the Pegging tree overview form, where you can view the status of the pegged documents that the kanban references.

View source requirement

For event kanbans, open the referenced form, where you can view detailed information about the source requirement.

  • For event kanbans for sales, the sales order form is opened.

  • For event kanbans for kanban lines, the kanban form for the parent kanban is opened.

  • For event kanbans for BOM lines, the production order form is opened.

Print kanban

Open a report where you can configure settings to print the kanban card. For more information, see Attach production instructions to kanban rules.

Description

Item number

The item number that the kanban references.

Product quantity

The product quantity that the kanban references.

Due date/time

The date and time when the job is expected to be finished.

Priority

Select this check box to indicate that the kanban has high priority.

Single use

For kanban rules that have a replenishment strategy of Fixed, a selected check box indicates that the kanban is created for a single use. A kanban that is created for a single use is not replenished when it is consumed.

View information about the kanban card and source requirement that the kanban references.

Field

Description

Card number

The number of the circulating card that is assigned to the kanban. If the kanban has a status of Created, you can modify this field.

Print status

View or modify the print status of the kanban card. The following options are available:

  • New – The card has not been printed. This is the default setting when a circulating card is created.

  • Printed – The card has been printed.

  • Needs reprint – The card has been printed, but the product, quantity, number of bins, activity, or destination has been changed.

Replenishment strategy

The replenishment strategy of the referenced kanban rule.

Lot ID

For event kanbans, the lot ID that the kanban references.

Sales order

For event kanbans, the sales order number that the kanban references.

Parent kanban

For event kanbans, the source kanban that the kanban references.

Jobs FastTab

View information about the job that is created to replenish the kanban.

Cancel job

For jobs that have a status of Planned, reset the status to Unplanned.

Field

Description

Job type

The type of job. The following options are available:

  • Process – A process job is created when the kanban references a kanban rule of the Manufacturing type.

  • Transfer – A transfer job is created when the kanban references a kanban rule of the Withdrawal type.

Status

The status of the job.

Activity

The activity that the kanban references.

Destination

The location where output from the job is received.

Schedule period date

When the job is planned, the date when the job is scheduled to start.

Due date/time

The date and time when the job is expected to be finished.

Conforming quantity

The quantity of produced items that comply with quality standards.

Error quantity

The quantity of produced items that meet the quality standards for scrap.

Purchase order

The identifier of the purchase order that purchases the subcontracting service.

Status

The status of the purchase order.

Product receipt

The identifier of the receipt advice that is generated for the subcontracting service for this job.

Item number

The identifier of the subcontracting service.

Carrier ID

The identifier of the carrier that is assigned to provide this transport service.

Pegging FastTab

View event kanbans that the job generates.

Details

Open the Kanban form, where you can view information about the line event kanban.

View pegging tree

Open the Pegging tree overview form, where you can view the pegging tree for the line event kanban.

Dimensions display

Open the Dimensions display form, where you can select the product dimensions that are displayed in the Pegging list.

Field

Description

Card number

The circulating card that the kanban references.

Item number

The item that the kanban references.

Activity

The activity that the kanban references.

Product quantity

The kanban quantity for the kanban line.

Unit

The unit of measure that is used with the item.

Handling unit status

The current status of the handling unit for the kanban line.

Due date/time

The date and time when the job is expected to be finished.
