Prerequisites for product configuration models

Several areas need to be set up in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 before you can configure a product configuration model.

To configure product configuration models, you must set up Production, Sales, Purchases and Master planning. The areas that relate to sales orders, sales quotations, purchase order and production orders must also be set up.

The following areas must be set up before product configuration models can be configured:

  • Inventory management

  • Accounts receivable, including customer information

  • Accounts payable, including vendor information

  • Production control, including Lean production if that is used

  • Sales and marketing

  • Project management and accounting

  • Resource groups in Organization administration

  • Master planning

  • Enterprise Portal for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
