Rule Name

The current physical size of the database file is close to the maximum database size.

Explanation

This Warning event indicates that the database file is growing and may exceed the maximum size that is configured in the registry. The Exchange store periodically checks any database size limits and dismounts a database when the size limit is reached.

User Action

To resolve this issue, use Registry Editor to modify a database size limit in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. The default database size limit for Exchange 2010 Standard Edition is 1,024 gigabytes (GB). There is no default database size limit for Exchange 2010 Enterprise Edition. You can modify the database size limit by adding or changing a value in the registry. For more information about how to do this, see Modify a Database Size Limit.

For More Information

If you are not already doing so, consider running the Exchange tools, which have been created to help you analyze and troubleshoot your Exchange environment. These tools can help make sure that your configuration aligns with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues and improve mail flow. To run these tools, go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console. To learn more about these tools, see Managing Tools in the Toolbox.
