Rule Name

Active Sync is temporarily suspending requests to an unresponsive mailbox server. Users with mailboxes on this server may not be able to sync until the server recovers.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync tried to access a mailbox on a computer that has the Mailbox server role installed but, instead, detected that the Mailbox server cannot handle requests. This problem may be caused by the following conditions:

  • A Microsoft Exchange database is dismounted.

  • The Mailbox server is offline for maintenance.

User Action

To resolve this problem, consider the following situations:

  • If this event is logged infrequently or is logged only during scheduled downtime for a Mailbox server, no user action is required.

If this event is logged frequently, do one or more of the following:

    • Make sure that the databases on the Mailbox server are mounted.

    • Review the Application log on the Mailbox server to determine the root cause of the offline status of the Mailbox server.

For More Information

If you are not already doing so, consider running the Exchange tools, which have been created to help you analyze and troubleshoot your Exchange environment. These tools can help make sure that your configuration aligns with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues and improve mail flow. To run these tools, go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console. To learn more about these tools, see Managing Tools in the Toolbox.
