Rule Name

Exceeded the supported mount limit of database copies on this server.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the server has too many active database copies. This situation may overload the CPU and the memory resources that are available.

For more information about database copies, see Understanding Mailbox Database Copies.

User Action

To resolve this issue, complete one of the following procedures:

  • Run the RedistributeActiveDatabases.ps1 script. The RedistributeActiveDatabases.ps1 script will run Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase for every database that needs it. For more information, see Managing Mailbox Database Copies.

  • Rebalance active database copies. Activate one of the passive copies on another server by using the Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase cmdlet to complete a switchover. For more information, see Move the Active Mailbox Database.

  • Use the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet together with the MaximumActiveDatabases parameter to set the number of databases that can be active on a server if this value was not configured correctly. However, do not change the MaximumActiveDatabases parameter in an existing environment that is working correctly. For more information, see Set-MailboxServer.

For More Information

If you are not already doing so, consider running the Exchange tools, which have been created to help you analyze and troubleshoot your Exchange environment. These tools can help make sure that your configuration aligns with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues and improve mail flow. To run these tools, go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console. To learn more about these tools, see Managing Tools in the Toolbox.
