Click Product information management > Common > Released products. Select an item. On the Action pane, click Plan > Item coverage.

Use this form to define detailed coverage settings for the current item. You also define the coverage dimensions that are used for planning. During master scheduling, the coverage settings are used to calculate requirements for the item and its coverage-planned dimensions.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

NoteNote
The information is specific to Process manufacturing production and logistics.

Field

Description

CW minimum

Enter the minimum catch weight quantity to maintain for the item. The value is expressed in catch weight units. If the projected available catch weight inventory falls below this quantity, master scheduling generates a planned order to fulfill all other open requirements first, and then brings the inventory up to the specified minimum catch weight quantity. The minimum quantity is automatically updated for the item, based on the nominal weight. If you leave this field blank, the default value is zero.

This field is used when you select Period, Requirement, or Min./Max. in the Coverage code list.

NoteNote

You must define all coverage-planned dimensions before you can define this field and the CW maximum field. This rule prevents the possible use of a record that is not valid during master scheduling. This situation might occur, for example, if a dimension group is extended with an additional coverage planned dimension for which the minimum and maximum inventory quantities are not yet defined.

CW maximum

Enter the maximum catch weight quantity to maintain for the item, stated in catch weight units. When projected available inventory falls below the catch weight minimum quantity and the coverage code is set to Min./Max., master scheduling generates a planned order to bring the inventory up to the specified maximum catch weight quantity after any other open requirements are fulfilled.

This field is used when you select Min./Max. in the Coverage code field.

Example

The minimum quantity is 10 and the maximum quantity is 15. Current on-hand inventory is 4. This gives a minimum quantity requirement of 6. However, because the maximum quantity is 15, master scheduling generates a planned order for 11.

You must define all coverage-planned dimensions before you can define this field and the CW minimum field. This rule prevents the possible use of an invalid record during master scheduling. This situation might occur, for example, if a dimension group is extended with an additional coverage planned dimension for which the minimum and maximum inventory quantities are not yet defined.

Planning formula

The identifier of the default planning item or formula item that is used to fulfill coverage requirements for the co-product item.

Default priority

The default planning priority of a formula item.

Current priority

The current priority of a formula item. This value is used to prioritize items at the same BOM level for processing instead of alphanumeric sequence by item number.

Date changed

The date on which the current priority value was last changed.
