The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers running Exchange 2010 and generates this alert when the events specified in the following Details table are logged.

Rule Name

The Exchange store was unable to load the virus scanner.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the Exchange store could not load the virus scanner program that is installed on the computer.

Typically, this issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

  • An antivirus program that is not compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 is installed on the computer.

  • The antivirus program is damaged. An antivirus program can be damaged for one or more of the following reasons:

    • Exchange Server was reinstalled or restored from backup, but the antivirus program was not reinstalled.

    • The antivirus program was uninstalled, but the removal of the program is incomplete or the installation was damaged.

User Action

To resolve this problem, do one or more of the following:

  • Verify that the antivirus software that is running on the computer is compatible with Exchange 2010. Contact your antivirus vendor to determine which version of antivirus software is compatible with Exchange 2010. For details, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 49500, List of antivirus software vendors.

    If the installed antivirus software is not compatible with Exchange 2010, disable the antivirus software on the server, and then restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.

  • Make sure that any antivirus software that is not being used is removed correctly. For more information about how to remove the antivirus program, contact the antivirus vendor.

  • Make sure that the antivirus program that you want to use is installed correctly. For more information about how to install the antivirus program, contact the antivirus vendor.
